Paint

Paint is a brush. Nothing is highlighted. You set what you want in the panel on the right, then click or drag to fill slots. The panel is the brush, not a look at what’s already on the grid: primary activity (required — what you were mainly doing), secondary (optional, something else in the same slot), and dimensions (optional extras you add yourself, like who, where, or mood). Same three fields as select, but here they describe the brush. No primary means dragging does nothing.

Select is for pointing at slots and changing them. This page is desktop; phone is a note at the end.

Click one slot, or click and drag across slots. After you paint, nothing stays highlighted.

Eyedropper

Eyedropper copies a filled slot into the brush, once. The right panel fills from that slot.

Hold Alt or Option and click, or tap the eyedropper. Only in paint.

This clip only shows primary. Secondary and dimensions work the same way; they are not in the video.

Eraser and undo

Eraser clears slots. Click eraser to turn it on, then click or drag. It stays on until you click eraser again, so you can do several strokes.

Eraser is only in paint.

⌘Z / Ctrl+Z undoes the last stroke. Redo is not in this clip.

Presets

A preset is a saved primary, plus any secondary and dimensions.

Picking a preset arms the brush with that preset.

In select, the same preset updates the highlight instead. Changing a highlight in select never changes the brush.

Locked days

Paint, erase, eyedropper, and paste skip locked slots. There is no warning.

On a phone

There is no tool strip.

• Brush armed: drag paints.
• Brush not armed: scrolling moves the grid.
• Long-press empty space for erase and other actions.

Select instead

Use select to edit one slot, copy and paste, or fix slots that don’t match.
